Just a few changes this time:
Improved some of the graphics, and extended the in-game console from 8 lines to 12.
Added player status icons, which show whether an opponent has been defeated or not.
Some more code cleanup, and changed some of the config options around to go in config.h which is generated on make, gets rid of the -D[option] stuff in the compile lines.
Upgrade strength now working in village centre menu.
The basics of the game are now complete, so it's on to adding nice little touches from here on in... a help menu, perhaps a tutorial, and maybe get the scouts working (no doubt someone has seen mention of such things in the source).
