Turious 0.3 Alpha 5
2nd July 2011

The next alpha release is out!
The biggest change in this release isn't noticeable in terms of gameplay, but makes the code a lot nicer to work with. The datatypes for the units were completely redesigned... and while this broke both the client and server for several days, now that it's done it makes them both easier to code on.
Other than this, the server had a few little bug fixes, and the unit type definitions have been moved from hardcode to an xml config file.
A slightly bigger thing is you can now set a server name, this will show in the clients' server list, rather than the IP address as per previous alphas.
Also, the client now has a 'Custom Connect' option to make it easier to connect to servers which aren't registered with the master server - and therefore don't show in the server list.
On to more noticeable things. There is now a minimap in-game, this follows you around the map, but shows a larger area than the main game screen.
Fog of War is also mostly-working, there's a couple of situations where it's not quite working right, but you'd be hard-pressed to notice.
The types are no longer printed over units, you can however now bring up an info panel by hovering the mouse over a unit and pressing `i':

A transparent image of a building now follows the mouse when you're building something, which helps with placing it (and knowing you've got the right building), it turns red if you can't place the building on a tile.
The customary screenshot:
