Turous reaches Beta!
By: Darkrose
Turious is now officially at beta level, as I can play multiple games with no problems.

There's also a new screen added to the game so when you start you get a nice little story rather than jumping straight into play - at least you will get a nice little story, at the moment it just says "game begins" but I'm getting there. This same screen also lets you know if you've won or lost... being dropped back to the main menu without warning, and no idea as to whether you've won or lost wasn't very nice before, so I did something about it.

It can actually be installed now "make install" puts all the images and the binary in suitable places, which means you don't have to edit the Makefile.inc just to install.

Of course I added "make uninstall" too.

TSDL also received some updates to the console widget, as the write function wasn't thread safe, what's there now is a bit of a hack, but it works till I do a proper job of it.
Also, transparent backgrounds received some more work, with updates to the widget and container creation functions which provides massive performance improvements. It's got Turious running really snappy now.

So by all means grab them both and have a play... and don't forget to tell me about it

Oh and happy Australia day for anyone that cares.

Edit: well I just had a bit more of a play with Turious, you now get a nice story when starting a new game, and suitable messages when you quit/win/lose. Also a slight change to the ai's just to make them seem more natural, and when you go to train/promote a soldier/farmer the cost of doing so now get's printed to the console. Finally, did a bit of cleaning up of the code... resulting in a smaller download.

And here's a screenshot of Turious as it is now:
